I am using CYCAS 3.80.4 for ubuntu. Unfortunately, the main window is larger in size than my desktop (1280x800), so that I can“t access the lower part of the main window. It is also not possible for me to resize the window by dragging the borders of the window with the mouse cursor.

Try this: choose Project, settings, gui and choose a font, e.g. "bitstream vera sans", Font Style "medium", Size 10. Then press the button below and "bang" it is smaller :-).
I had the same problem (KDE on a 1024x768 Laptop).
