I´ve been playing with SketchUp lately, and I found many interesting things.
One of those is the ability of making measurements while you are drawing: i.e. when you´re drawing a line you can select "tape measure" and when you finish it you get back to the "line" function you were in.
In Cycas this translates into Gauge and Zoom tools.
Even this could be done with all kind of tools, so you could create some sort of "macros on the fly": selecting "join" and then "delete part" if you´re likely to modify some lines you´ve drawn, so when "delete part" is finished you get into "join" no need click the button.

do you mean that after you used delete part one time, it would automatically revert back to join?

right now i thimk most cycas tools remain active until the next one is selected. in some systems, the tool has to be reselected after each use...tedious

i am a big fan of keyboard shortcuts so that changing tools becomes very fast

What I mean is that there is a category of tools which we can call "drawing aid" that could be used while you are using a "drawing" tool:
let´s suppose we are drawing a line and we have to set the "end point" but we forgot the lenght which we like to be the same as that between to points of our plan, then we could select "gauge" (without leaving "line") and have that length, and then automatically get back to "end point" where we were.
This would be despite you´re using keyboard shortcuts or not.
