         It seems that you don´t have libboost on your system...

         You need to installed boost-devel; libboost-devel and etc and it needs to be greater then 1.36. I don´t know your operating system to help you further.

         Since I use Fedora 13, I used http://packages.ubuntu.com to search the package for you.

On Karmic the boost version is 1.38.1 which means you will not need to install something from outside apt-get. So install simply by using either synaptic or on the terminal use the command

$ sudo apt-get install libboost-dev

Now.. reading the INSTALL from the source code I see that the requirements are:

- Zlib version 1.2.1 or above
  http://www.zlib.net

- LibPNG version 1.2.5 or above
  http://www.libpng.org

So for solving completly the dependency problem you should:

$ sudo apt-get install libboost-dev zlib1g-dev zlibc libpng3-dev libjpeg62-dev libtiff4-dev

Now probably all the dependencies should be solved

EDIT:
Forgot to say there are 2 optional dependencies openexr and SDL

So to install them:

$ sudo apt-get install libopenexr-dev libsdl1.2-dev libsdl1.2debian-all

Salut,

N´ayant pas de connexion internet a domicile, je n´ai pas pu installé le paquet boost ainsi que les dépendant.
J´ai pu le faire sur OpenSuse 11.2 qui a installé tous ainsi que toutes les dependances, j´ai compilé povray3.7 beta, mais dans cycas en lançant le rendu rien ne se passe.

Not having internet connections domocile, I could not install the package as well as boost dependent.
I have done on OpenSuse 11.2 in which it has installed all dependencies and all, I compiled povray3.7 beta, but launching cycads rendering nothing happens.

From this line: "/usr/bin/install -c povray ´/usr/local/bin´" , I see that povray installed on /usr/local, so if you have both, povray 3.6 and 3.7 on your system, the PATH variable gives preference for things on /usr instead of the /usr/local

Therefore, on cycas instead of calling for povray on the render window, try to change povray to /usr/local/bin/povray

That should make the modification for what you need, the case is there is a way to make povray 3.7 to install on /usr instead but it is still beta software so I advise you to have both povray 3.7 and 3.6 so that if 3.7 crashes or doesn´t give you the correct result, try with the 3.6.

Now you should also know that you don´t need to have a beta software, since I believe you´re using KDE4 with suse 11.2, then you can make all your work and then when rendering you can press ALT+SHIFT+F12 that is a shortcut for temporarily suspend the composite effects, once you finished the povray work, you can press alt+shift+f12 once again to reenable the kwin composite effects
