I´m running OpenSUSE 11.2-x86_64 with 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) "release 0" and I don´t find libQtGui.so.4 libraries. Anybody can help me with possible repositories? Didencool, did you solve the installation without problem?

I have copy binary file to my home directory, actually I have it in
~/bin/Cycas4p2> pwd
/home/USER/bin/Cycas4p2
made it executable with
>chmod +x Cycas4p2
I have installed KDE 4.5 from unstable repository, so I can not suggest you to use it.
thanks to diogo.urb, for explaining about packages you need.
today I found how can I knew what package is containe some file I interesting in
> rpm -q --whatprovides libQtGui.so.4
libqt4-x11-32bit-4.6.3+4.6.20100316-1.1.x86_64

so libqt4-x11-32bit is what you need

kaerick,

Quote: For the moment (at work), I work in cm..

this would explain why the scale had to be altered by 10x, because i imported the dxf in mm!

one advantage cycas has over many arch softs is that it is small and fast

i think a lot of users will really appreciate your generous offer to share your library!

Hello,

@Steve : Yes, I love cycas because it´s small and fast. Furthermore, it is a very good cheap software. I find that it is interesting that the students learn with it and use it later at work. As soon as my library is ok, I shall put a link on the forum (with regular updates).  It would maybe be great to create a special page so that everybody shares their libraries.

To install Cycas under Ubuntu 64 bits, should we download 32 bits libraries ? Maybe is it necessary to do a package asking for the good dependences ?

Thanks

kaerick, I´ve imported your dxf library without problem too (Cycas on OpenSUSE 11.2-x86_64) and I find it very helpful. I think it´s a very good idea having a CAD library for cycas users  Smiley

Best regards.

@wolfgang

thanks for the preview of cycas 4. i can see some really nice features emerging:

:)the free rotation and perspective view during free rotation
     :)the dockable toolbars
     :)the snapping and snap preview
:)the pop-up dialog box for data entry on pressing right arrow
     :)left click to confirm

great!

Just got a chance to take a look my-own self. The huge project I´m working on (in Cycas 3.9, BTW) just doubled in size, so it´s been a bit hectic around here.  Shocked

Anyway, belated dittos to Steve´s post! Looking forward to seeing what other goodies you have in store for us.

Hey @wolfgang:

Any plans on including the hooks for BIM in 4.0?

It would be really cool, useful, and in keeping with Cycas small/fast footprint if 3D objects could be labeled and output to something like, say, dBase, SQlite, or Open Office´s native DBF, with their associated dimensional info and number of objects with this label. The information would then be available to spreadsheets for all kinds of external useful processing:

A roof plane objects for instance, could be analysed for square footage (meters) for rainwater runoff, PV systems, and estimating work for roofing.

In fact, estimating in nearly real time would be the major benefit. Install 25 studs, open up the spreadsheet attached to the database and there you have it!

And all without bloating the code in Cycas.

FRENCH:

salut,

Cordialement

                                            GOD BLESS U !!!

hi,

I downloaded version Cycas4 in development, not bad ergonomics.
I have some suggestions to give Verlag Frese if still possible before the stable version:

- When you pull down the menu file is not possible it is a shortcut or there is the recently opened files?
Cycas is malalaise with splines is that this version will no longer Cycas4 this problem? because in the Fill menu can not be met such as stones or stones that are shaped curves informes / batch for foundation, floor ... same thing also if roofing tiles ...
In the main menu opening doors may be a sub menu that allows you to insert the symbol from the door vertical eg 80x210
- In Cycas4 there is there a menu Inserting an image bmp.jpg ...

I hope that my suggestions would help the smooth development of Cycas

Best regards

kaerick, thanks for the library update...is it at the same location as before? i will check to see if i have any useful symbols that could be added...there will not be many, your library is quite comprehensive, and beautifully drawn...did you draw them yourself?

Hi Steve,

I´m happy when people like and use my library. The aim is to have a set of useful and understandable by all symbols. Many symbols are not needed but that these last ones are relevant. I did not draw everything. There are also objects got back with the builders, objects downloaded on internet, etc. For the library update, it´s at the same location than before. If you want, you can give me your symbols (DXF) to be added.

Do you think that the site of Cycas could propose a platform of exchange and download of library ?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Kaerick

It would be cool if you could point Cycas 4.0 to the symbol exchange and  have it use it as one of the available symbol libraries.  Cool
