I´m fifty-fifty, since I can´t run it on my OpenSUSE. In every way, it´s a good new that makes me happy.
Best regards for CYCAS developers and users.

Hello All,

I think that the errors on my DXF file stem from the use Cycas Public. Does anybody want to test my file on cycas basic or cycas pro (it´s my open architectural library) ?

I am impatient to see the new version of Cycas.

Bye

Hello,

@Steve : Thank you very much for the test. It´s great ! By looking at the file, I saw that there were 2 more layers (0 and Fred_LibCAD [etc.]) and that the drawing had a problem of scale (10 %). How have you done ? Do you believe that I should enlarge the scale of my original drawing to be good on Cycas ? Should I simplify the layers ? Thanks a lot !

Cycas is really a good software : thanks to developers for your work !

kaerick, yes the scale is not right...you need to enlarge (stretch) by a factor of 10 (across x and y). i am assuming you are working in mm.

autocad files always have a zero layer... it is empty (there is no cross against the layer number in the layer dialog). your whole library is on layer 2. you can rename it as you like

cycas has a very good library system, so you could save all your symbols to that (using symbol > save).  inside the library you can also create new categories (as folders)

yes cycas is great software! this is a little known fact! the more you use it the more you realise how many nice features it has and how much careful thought has gone into it.

btw that is an excellent library you have assembled!

So backing to the Cycas 4 preview

I just tested it on Mandriva 2010.0 X86_64 edition, and it is looking good

Cycas is a great software, but here is my feedback.

It would be nice if cycas could try to see the qt4 style from the system instead of using it´s own so its appereance looks completely integraded with the desktop.

It could be nicer to have a better snap system, it is recognizing the snap points and even using them correctly only if your are very near it if you are a little further from the point it still shows you like it would select the snap but it actually doesn´t use it.

Now for those who wants test this preview on a 64 bit system:
On Mandriva 64 I only had to install the 32 bit versions of qt (libqt4gui libqt4core etc etc etc) and then just execute and it will work as intended.

Keep on with the great work.

@steve : I shall enlarge the scale by a factor of 10. For the moment (at work), I work in cm with ArchiCAD. I don´t like ArchiCAD... In France, the most used softwares are, in the order : AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and Allplan.

The name of my layer is FRED_LibCAD : Fred (= Frédéric, my firstname) + Lib (Lib = library or/and « Libre » [libre in french = open) + CAD (Computer-aided design). I shall save all my symbols in the library system of Cycas. I shall propose it for everybody later. I think : " the knowledge has value only if it is shared ".

By the way, do you know why cycas is so called ?

Yes (thanks didencool) on opensuse 11.2-32 works fine too, I´ve forgotten I´m still running 11.1 on my desktop...
Well, the interface looks and works fine, maybe it´s too early to say something so I´ll wait to see what´s going on the next step, I trust Wolfgang and Anja.

I´m running OpenSUSE 11.2-x86_64 with 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) "release 0" and I don´t find libQtGui.so.4 libraries. Anybody can help me with possible repositories? Didencool, did you solve the installation without problem?

xluis,

On opensuse x86_64 the packages are named differently,

you probably need to install the packages named as:

libqt4-32bit
libqt4-x11-32bit

Then latter try it again.
